Skilled nursing providers turn to behavioral health amid medicaid headwinds
As Medicaid reimbursement rates remain low in Washington, skilled nursing facilities have had to get creative in order to keep from shuttering like so many other facilities in the state. To survive the low rates, some facilities are adding new service lines — and one of those service lines is behavioral health.
“We’ve made the determination that we’re going to be tough about this, and while we are losing a ton of money on our skilled nursing facilities in the state of Washington — I don’t think that’s any secret — we’re looking to get creative with our business plan. And our plan is to ride out the storm.”
