When Kids Visit Assisted Living Facilities, Everyone Benefits
Residents of assisted living facilities love visitors, who bring energy and fun to the facility. But kids also benefit from these visits. A new study showed that kids who spent time playing and helping those suffering from dementia more easily develop empathy, patience and problem-solving skills. There are even programs that bring child volunteers to assisted living facilities.

“It’s always good to expose kids to different people and different situations and let them learn that there’s life outside of their day-to-day. I’m hoping this helps them long-term think about people in other situations and how something as simple as coming once a week or once every couple weeks can make a difference.”
